PURPOSE:To improve weatherability, more particularly resistance to rust, by bringing a thin magnetic metallic film layer formed by a vapor deposition method into contact with steam of a specific temp. CONSTITUTION:A thin magnetic metallic film layer consisting of metals such as Fe, Co, Ni or the like or their alloy is formed on a nonmagnetic substrate by a vapor deposition method, and said layer is brought into contact with >=100 deg.C steam. The time necessary for contact is enough within about 3min, and in the case of >=200 deg.C steam, a good effect is obtainable even for about 1-5sec. The obtained magnetic recording medium forms less rust when subjected to a dew cycle corrosion rest. |
