PURPOSE:To improve rate of recognition for character string by enabling an operater to correct the result of automatic segmentation for hand-written character string written in free format. CONSTITUTION:Character string written in an input form 1 is divided character by character in a segmentation section 2 and each character pattern is stored in a segmentation result memory 3. When segmentating, two characters may be made to be one character, or one character may be divided into the two. Accordingly, the result of segmentation is indicated on a display 5 by a display control section 6, and confirmed by the operator. If there is any error, the operator corrects it by the key board 7. After correction, a recognition section 4 performs character recognition according to the result of segmentation in the memory 3, and the result of recognition is indicated on the display 5. |
