PURPOSE:To eliminate crosstalk and dropout by reproducing a part of the track reproduced by the head on the outermost side by a reproducing head for control provided on the further outer side of the reproducing multihead on the outermost side, and applying tracking servo to the playback multiheads in accordance with the level of the reproduced output. CONSTITUTION:When a playback mode is set and a tape 1 travels, a part of a track 21 is reproduced by a head 5a, and a part of a track 2n is reproduced by a head 5b. The reproduced output of the head 5a is applied through an amplifier 9a to a low-pass filter 10a, by which the low-frequency component Sa contained in the reproduction signal is separated. The detection level detected with a detection circuit 11 is applied to one terminal of a comparator 12. On the other hand, the reproduced output of the head 5b is similarly applied through an amplifier 9b to a low-pass filter 10b, and the signal Sb separated by the same is applied to a detection circuit 11b, by which the level thereof is detected and is applied to the comparator 12. The levels of the signals Sa and Sb is compared, and an actuator 15 is driven by the compared output thereof to move the heads 5 in an arrow (a) or (b) direction. |
