Electromagnetic proportional displacement valve

The valve has a control element inserted between input and an output and moved against a return spring by an operating magnet. The latter is supplied with pulses having a variable pulse width ratio. A control space is provided on either side of the control element the two control spaces coupled together via a channel incorporating a throttle which limits the velocity of the control element. The armature of the magnet is coupled to the control element via an operating spring and the characteristic curves of the operating spring and the resetting spring converge to allow the control element to attain a stable intermediate position without oscillation. The valve is cheap and easy to mfr. and is free from hysteresis.
