An applicator for, in particular, liquid shoe care media comprises a container part (1) and a cap part (6), which is held so as to be movable axially thereto, as a bearer for a distribution sponge (13). The cap part (6) covers the mouth of the container part (1). Provided in the cap part (6) are one or more passage openings (8) in an axially aligned relation to a free end face (5) on the container part (1). The passage opening (8) can therefore be closed or exposed by the end face (5) depending on the axial position of the cap part (6) relative to the container part (1). Additional sealing of the passage openings (8) is provided on the cap part (6) by a sealing cone (11) which can be inserted into the mouth of the container part (1). The arrangement consisting of the cap part (6) and the sponge (13) is shielded by a covering hood (15) detachably connected to the cap part. The applicator allows not only hermetic sealing of the care medium contained in the container part, but also metered supply of the care medium to the sponge. <IMAGE>
