The invention relates to a measuring instrument for measuring low volumetric flows of liquid, in particular leakage flows, having a measuring tube and electrical or electrooptical means for determining the liquid column situated in the measuring tube. The measuring tube, which is preferably vertically arranged and open at the bottom, has on its upper end a liquid inlet bore and, preferably opposite the latter at the same level, an air inlet bore, the measuring tube being provided with an inside diameter such that the liquid column is held by the adhesion forces arising. Connected upstream of the air inlet bore is a valve which is preferably constructed as a shut-off valve having a restricting effect in the open position.
