PURPOSE:To limit a sample provided for the measurement of the sample only to the one in the vicinity of a hot electrode, by providing cold electrodes above and under a hot electrode which generates an electronic line of force to regulate the upper and downward expansion thereof. CONSTITUTION:A sample dryer is provided with a funnel type sample case 2 to dry a sample 1 by a heated air 6 from a vent port 5 at the bottom thereof. The dryer body 7 is mounted securely with an electrode substrate 12 which is provided with a hot electrode 7a and cold electrodes 17b and 17c above and under the electrode 7a. On the other hand, the case 2 is provided for an electrode plug port 14 for insertion into or withdrawing of substrate 12. With such an arrangement, the upward line of electric force J is regulated with the electrode 17b to reduce variations in the measured values of water contents despite changes in the stack height of the sample. The electrode 17c also regulates the expansion of the downward line of electric force J. This can limit the portion provided for water measurement of the sample 1 to the part A and the part D in the vicinity of the electrode 17a thereby assuring correct water information.
