PURPOSE:To decrease the processing time, by transferring the processing, when the unmatching bit number as to a partial pattern to be recognized exceeds the unmatching bit number to a matching peak value obtained by the processing of the partial pattern to be recognized. CONSTITUTION:After a master pattern is stored in a memory 6, a pattern to be recognized from a TV camera 2 is stored in a pattern memory 7. These patterns are given sequentially to shift registers 10, 11 under the control of a pattern matching control circuit 13, the corresponding bits are compared at an exclusive OR circuit 15, and the coincident bit number is obtained at a matching degree generating circuit 16 and the dissident bit number is obtained at an unmatching degree generating circuit 17. When the unmatching bit number as the partial pattern to be recognized exceeds th unmatching bit number to the matching peak value obtained by the processing of the partial pattern to be recognized, the processing is transferred to the next stage. |
