The relay has a coil with a rod-shaped iron core (5) and an armature (18) which is arranged over the coil, is supported such that it can pivot about an axis parallel to the coil axis, and in each case surrounds one end of the coil core (5) at both ends with pole plates (20, 21, 22, 23) which are arranged in pairs. The armature is supported via bearing pins (25) in a frame-shaped support (8) to which, in addition, contact springs (13, 14) are attached whose contact-making parts are arranged horizontally over the armature and are switched by operating cams (27) of the armature. <IMAGE>
