PURPOSE:To permit the excavation of a trench on a steep slope by a method in which a guide leg is provided to a running vehicle in vertically movable manner, provided with an excavator, and when a trench is excavated, while the guide leg is contacted with the side wall of the trench. CONSTITUTION:A total of four runners 10 are provided independently in a vertically movable manner to the front and back sides of left- and right-handed sides of a running vehicle 2 in a trencher 1, and an excavator 40 is provided in a vertically movable and given angle-turnable manner to the front side in such a way as to permit straight or curved trenches to be excavated. A pair of guide legs 90A and 90B for the front and back sides of the trench are hung down and held at the lower part of the vehicle 2 by a pantagraph type elevator mechanism 91 on the center line in the front and back directions of the vehicle 2. Thereby, the mechanism 91 is extended or shrunk to move the legs 90A and 90B vertically and set and hole them at any position, and the mechanism 91 is inserted into the trench 64 being excavated to make it contact with the side wall 64a of the trench, thereby preventing the sideway sliding and drifting of the vehicle 2. |
