Process for producing a road surfacing

The invention relates to a process for producing a road surfacing having a substructure of unbonded grainy material and a superstructure comprising an upper base course of bituminously bonded grainy material and a wearing course. By choice of suitable materials and corresponding placing methods, an intimate bond of the materials used is to be achieved and stratification is to be avoided. This is achieved by using for the substructure coarse-grained refuse incineration slag with a small fine grain fraction, which slag is compacted after dumping in place, by using for the upper base course a mixture of broken grains having a high voids content, with exclusive use of washed crushed sand and an amount of bitumen just adequate for adhesively bonding neighbouring grains, the mixture being compacted by shaking in the hot state immediately after placing, and by the wearing course of bituminously bonded chippings with washed crushed sand being applied directly to the upper base course.
