A high-bay rack system for palletised goods has storage and retrieval devices (RB) operating in the aisles (G), which storage and retrieval devices feed the respective pallets (P) on request to corresponding collection points (A) in front of the aisles (G), from which collection points they are transported to commissioning points (K). For rational execution of orders, each commissioning point (K) apart from the commissioning level (k) has two readying levels (a, b), one (a) of which is disposed below and the other (b) above the commissioning level (k), and a respective lift (L) which can travel between the three levels (a, k, b) is provided on both sides of each commissioning point (K). Furthermore, a shunting carriage (Va, Vb) is provided on each readying level (a, b), which carriage can travel in front of the aisles (G) transversely thereto for supplying requested pallets (P) from the collection point (A) to the commissioning point (K) and for returning said pallets after removal of the required goods. <IMAGE>
