The innovation relates to a foot support for seating and lying furniture, which foot support consists of a pivoting frame, a collapsible foot rest part and a pivoting and retaining mechanism acting on the frame. The purpose of the invention is to provide a foot support which can readily be moved into any desired angular positions relative to the seat or to the vertical plane irrespective of the position of the seat or backrest and which allows the user to support and rest his/her legs in any desired manner, or to move them in any desired manner in accordance with his/her medical and physical requirements.
