The object of the invention, using oil tanks mounted in the earth as heat accumulators, if a transition is being made to other combustibles, serves for the optimum use of generated heat. According to the content of the oil tank, combustion cycles are reduced down to 1%, if gas is the combustible in question. If heating is effected with solid fuels, the fire does not have to be maintained throughout the heating period, but it would be a matter of only 100 to 150 combustion operations throughout the heating period, according to the tank content. Heating is carried out rapidly, then the fire is extinguished. An optical or acoustic signal requests the next combustion operation. The high heating-installation efficiency which can be achieved by these means halves the heating-energy consumption. The existing oil tank is highly effectively heat-insulated on the inside or on the outside or both.
