PURPOSE:To perform writing operation in matching with the size of recording paper by controlling writing timing with recording size information, recording system information, laser light emission duty information, etc., as for main scan light emitting timing and subscan side light emitting area. CONSTITUTION:A main control part 1 stores the writing timing determined with recording form size information, etc., in a register 2. A laser diode LD light quantity adjustment part 3 adjusts the quantity of light of a laser light emission part 7 according to the signal of the register 2 and an LD light emission duty adjustment part 4 extends the white and black of an original signal and makes positive-positive and negative-positive adjustments of recording paper for the laser light emission part 7. Then a main scanning writing timing control part 5 controls the writing timing in a main scanning direction with a signal from a laser light emission detection part 8 which detects the light emission of the laser light emission part 7 according to the contents of the register 2 and a subscanning writing frequency control part 6 controls writing timing in a subscanning direction. Consequently, the writing operation is carried out in matching with the size of recording paper.
