Brake-pad wear indicator for motor vehicles

摘要

The intention of the brake-pad wear indicator is to signal excessive and dangerous wear of the brake pads on a motor vehicle by means of a warning light mounted in the motor-vehicle dashboard. A PVC-coated copper cable embedded in the brake pad is torn when the brake pad is nearly totally worn out. Since when the engine of the motor vehicle is being started the cable is connected to the current from the weak-current side, a relay signals by way of a light mounted in the dashboard when the copper cable tears, i.e. when the brake pads have reached a dangerous state of wear.
