The invention relates to a manipulator for populating printed circuit boards with SMD components by hand, having a manipulator head (1) which can be moved by the operator, is guided on a supporting frame freely and independently in the three spatial directions via thrust rails (thrust rod 18, horizontal thrust rail 20) which are in each case guided longitudinally in the axial direction, and carries a vacuum suction pipette (4), which can rotate freely preferably about a vertical axis (12), in order to hold the respectively manipulated SMD component.
