PURPOSE:To eliminate the number of a large-capacity screen memories and to realize a low cost and a compact structure, by not only driving a picture medium in a single direction but sending the picture medium backward when necessary to select an optional and desired reading object region. CONSTITUTION:An input medium 20 containing different types of picture regions such as a character region and a graphic region, etc. is scanned by a line sensor 30 while being transported by a motor 40. In such a way, the video signal is obtained and supplied to a processing circuit 34. A memory 38 stores the position of a picture region on the medium 20 together with the type of the region. A control circuit 36 controls the motor 40 with the reading output of the memory 38 to control the forward/backward transport of the medium 20 and at the same time controls the extraction of the output video signal of the sensor 30 to read the picture region in response to its type. |
