PURPOSE:To enhance coal gasification rate and improve coal treatability per unit volume in a simple way and apparatus, by feeding, for fluidization, to the gasification furnace the gas produced by burning part of the gas generated in the combustion chamber attendant on the furnce. CONSTITUTION:A gasification furnace 19 is charged with a feedstock such as a pulverized coal from a hopper 18. The gas thus produced is freed from pulverized materials such as char, residual feedstock, etc. during being fed from the top of the furnace through the cyclone 24 to the gas-refining tower 25 where impurities such as dust, NOx, SOx, etc. are removed, thus being stored in a gas holder 27. The combustion chamber 21 attendant on the furnace 19 is then charged with part of the gas produced above followed by burning it together with oxygen or a gas containing oxygen to generate a fluidizing gas which is then fed to the gasification furnace 19. |
