PURPOSE:To multiplex signlas, by compressing the time length of a voiced sound after making it into a block, transmitting the energy of a representative frequency component of a voiceles sound, and stopping the transmission when an input is not a voiced sound. CONSTITUTION:When an input has a voice array as shown in a figure, a voiced- sound block is time-compressed, a voiceless sound is transmitted after spectrum envelope compression, and a nonsound part is not transmitted, utilizing time periods t1, t2, t3 for other voice transmission. The input voice is divided into a voiced sound, a voiceless sound, and a nonsound part by a sound characteristic detection part 8. The output of a unit 4 is timecompressed and the output of a unit 7 is time-compressed with regard to its envelope. A control part 14 controls a switch part 9 to select contacts (a), (b) and (c) corresponding to the voiced sound, voiceless sound, and nonsound part. Namely, no signal is outputted for the nonsound part. A channel multiplexing part 10 receives similar signals from other channels and multiplexes them to output to a transmission line group 12. |
