PURPOSE:To enable to charge gas into a shock absorber with ease, by charging the gas in the state that a ring nut fitted to one end of an outer shell is fixed temporarily to the outer shell, and then tightening the ring nut by turning a jig which is engaged with the ring nut. CONSTITUTION:In a shock absorber in which a rod guide 5 is fitted to one end of a cylinder 1 having an outer shell 2 and an inner shell 3 and a piston rod 4 is extended through the central part of the rod guide 5 in a freely slidable manner, a ring nut 12 having a proper number of longitudinal grooves 12a at its threaded part is fixed temporarily to the inside of the outer shell 2 in charging a gas into the shock absorber. Then, a hollow jig 16 is fixed to one end of the outer shell 2 and a gas A is injected from a gas injection port 14 of the jig 16 and introduced into a reservoir chamber 9 via the longitudinal grooves 12a, a hollow space 13 and a through-hole 11. When the pressure of gas A in the chamber 9 is raised to a prescribed value, the nut 12 is brought into tight contact with the rod guide 5 by turning the jig 16, and the longitudinal grooves 12a are sealed by a gasket 6. |
