<p>"METERING SYSTEM FOR SEED AND GRANULAR MATERIAL" In one embodiment, one or more sealed tanks is provided to hold seed or a granular material such as fertilizer, herbicide or the like and an adjustable side plate at the base thereof controls the amount discharging therefrom. An endless open mesh type chain includes an upper run and a lower run and is driven from a ground wheel or the like. The material drops onto the upper run which has a stationary control plate below the discharge of the tank. The material is moved along the plate by the chain until the edge of the plate is reached whereupon the material drops onto and through the lower run which includes a lower plate supporting same. It is moved in the opposite direction by the lower run to an adjustable discharge communicating within the air tube of an air seeder or the like. The tank or tanks is sealed and pressurized by the air in the air tube. In one embodiment a plurality of louvers is formed through the lower plate to allow the material to be desposited into the air tube without turbulence occurring. In another embodiment, an endless chain and control system is provided for each of a plurality of tanks all operatively connected to the air tube and in a still further embodiment, a venturi may be provided adjacent the discharge into the air tube thereby eliminating the necessity or reducing the requirements for pressurizing the system.</p> |
