摘要 PURPOSE:To provide an optical recording medium undergoing a large change in optical properties when being irradiated with optical to thermal energy and capable of being produced easily, wherein an amorphous thin film comprising Te and SiOx as main constituents is provided on a substrate. PURPOSE:A substrate 1 is comprised of a glass plate or a sheet or film of a synthetic resin such as a polymethyl methacrylate resin, and a heat-insulating layer 2 for controlling heat constant or the like is provided thereon, if necessary. Silicon oxide, a plasma-polymerized film or the like is used for the heat-insulating layer. The amorphous thin film 3 comprising tellurium and silicon monoxide or silicon dioxide as main constituents is provided on the heat-insulating layer 2. The thin film 3 can be produced by a vapor deposition method or a sputtering method. Recording is generally made by a laser light modulated to a light intensity corresponding to a signal. The signal may be reproduced by a reflective-type optical signal reproduction system. The amorphous thin film is formed of a compound having a composition of the formula (wherein 0<X<=2, 0<Y< 100; Y is in mol%).
