PURPOSE:To prevent elongation of release in time lag, by providing a partial photometry control part which cuts off light for a specific time when switching to partial light photometry and a storage part stores the partial photometry value of a photodetection part, and outputs the stored partial photometric value even after the light cutting-off state is released. CONSTITUTION:This light metering device is equipped with the photodetection part 9 which photodetects the quantity of light of a subject image formed on a focusing screen through a photographing lens and outputs a photometric value corresponding to the quantity of light, an electrooptic light shielding element 8 which shields the screen of the focusing screen 1 partially with light to the photodetection part 9 during partial light reading operation, and changeover switches SW3 and SW3' for switching between averaged overall photometry and partial photometry. When the partial photometry mode is switched to a partial photometry control part 11 puts the electrooptic light shielding element 8 in light shielding operation for a specific time according to photometric operation and the storage part 10 is stored with the stored partial photometric value of the photodetection part 9 and outputs the stored partial photometric value even after the light shielding operation is released. |
