PURPOSE:To provide favorable printing conditions and reduce mechanical load on a printer, by setting platen pressure and the material for a platen so that the quantity of depression of the platen by a thermal head will be a specified value. CONSTITUTION:A sheet form member (e.g., Teflon sheet) 5 having a high lubricating property and heat resisting property is adhered to the platen 4 formed of an elastic member through an adhesive, and the resultant assembly is adhered to the recessed part of a holder 6 to constitute the platen 7 with a thin sheet. Then, the platen pressure against the thermal head 1 traveled in the direction of an arrow A is so set that the quantity of depression of the platen 7 will be not larger than the thickness of a partial glaze 2 provided on the head 1, accordingly, during traveling of the head 1, a minute gap (b) is generated between the platen 7 and the head 1 so that a recording paper 3 is prevented from being shaved. |
