PURPOSE:To read out magnetized signals in high density, by realizing a structure, in which one end in the direction of width of an MR (magneto-resistance effect) element composed of a ferromagnetic body having electrodes at both end faces to a recording medium and the other end is magnetically coupled with one end of a magnetically permeable body contacting with the recording medium. CONSTITUTION:A nonmagnetic material 2 is deposited on an insulating magnetic substrate 1 made of ferrite, etc., by a sputtering means, etc., and an alloy 3 is deposited on the nonmagnetic material 2 by vacuum depositon and electrodes 4-4' are installed to both ends of an MR element 3 in the direction of length by photoetching technique. The upper end part of the element 3 is magnetically coupled with the substrate 1 and the lower end part is contacted with a recording medium 5. Therefore, magnetic fluxes generated from magnetized signals recorded on the medium 5 are introduced from the lower end part of the element 3 to the part of the substrate 1 where the nonmagnetic material 2 is not deposited through the element 3 and its upper end part and returned to the medium 5 after passing through the substrate 1 and the contacting surface 7 of the substrate with the medium 5. Therefore, a reproducing head, in which the element width loss and gap loss are solved, can be realized. |
