PURPOSE:To completely exclude dross on coating bath surface to stabilize product quality, by revolving a columnar member having a opiral groove in a cylinder arranged in contacting state with coating bath in a snout. CONSTITUTION:The cylinder 6 is arranged to the snout 3 dipped into coating bath, and the columnar member 5 providing the spiral groove 5' is inserted in the cylinder 6. A part of top end of the member 5 is brought into contact with surface of a molten metal 1 being coating bath in the snout 3. If the member is revolved, the dross 4 on the surface is scooped up together with the metal 1 by the groove 5', carried out in direction of a discharging pipe 10 and flows down to the metal 1 surface of coating bath at outside of the snout 3. The metal 1 is returned to coating bath and the dross 4 is piled in the pipe 10. The piled dross 4 is removed outside the snout 3. By the apparatus, occurrence of surface defect of strip due to dross adhesion can be suppressed.
