PURPOSE:To set prescribed clamping force for molds in a short time, by detecting the moving position of a link housing in a toggle type die clamping device, comparing the thickness of the molds and the closing position of a toggle link mechanism, and comparing and calculating the clamping force with the set clamping force in accordance with the result of said comparison. CONSTITUTION:The thickness H of molds 14 and the clamping force of the molds 14 are set and the position thereof is determined according to the movement of a moving plate 12 and a link housing 16 in an opening/closing installation for the molds 14 consisting of a stationary plate 10, the moving plate 12, the like housing 16 and a toggle link mechanism 18. The detected value is compared and calculated with the above-described respective set values, and the values at which the clamping force of the molds 14 attains finally the prescribed set clamping force are determined by calculation, whereby the automatic setting of the clamping force for the molds is made possible and the intended clamping force is set easily in a short time. |
