PURPOSE:To form a protective material for lining a tundish quickly and mechanically with high efficiency, by providing a form on the inside of the lining refractory material of the tundish, and forcibly feeding the mortarlike protective material into the clearance between both. CONSTITUTION:A form 5 is provided on the inside of the lining refractory material 4 of a tundish 1, and a uniform spacing S of 20-40mm. is formed between both. Plural injection holes 6 and vent holes 7 are provided on the top surface of the form 5, and the mortarlike refractory protective material sent forcibly from a feed pipe 8 is forcibly fed into the spacing S through the holes 6. The air in the spacing S is discharged through the holes 7 so that the protective material is forcibly fed uniformly in all corners in the spacing S. The form 5 is removed, and the formed protective material layer is dried and cured, whereby the protective material layer is completed. Since the application of the protective material is mechanized, manpower is lessened, and the protective material layer having a long service life is formed in a short time. |
