PURPOSE:To prevent the seizure of molten steel on the inside surface of a casting mold for continuous casting and to improve the high temp. strength thereof by coating the upper part of the inside surface of said mold with Mo metal and the lower part with Ni metal. CONSTITUTION:A coating layer 2 of Mo or an Mo alloy having excellent high temp. strength is formed in the upper half part to be exposed particularly to high temp. on the inside surface of a casting mold 1 made of copper or a copper alloy to be used for continuous casting of steel and a coating layer 3 of Ni or an Ni alloy having high abrasion resistance to the abrasion by a soldified shell is formed in the lower half part of the casting mold. Even if the layer 2 is oxidized or sulfurized in the high temp. part in the inside upper part of the casting mold, the seizure of molten steel is prevented by the evaporation of the formed MoO3 and the high temp. lubricity of MoS2. |
