An information carrier for security purposes is specified, which has, in one position, an impressed hologram (4) which is formed from an overlaying of a white-light hologram by a laser transmission hologram. Also specified is a system for reading out the content of an information carrier of this type, in which an optical receiver is arranged in a point in space in front of the information carrier, on which the content stored in the laser transmission hologram is projected by means of illumination with a laser beam. The invention makes possible the machine readability of the content of information carriers for security purposes, such as for example cheques, identity cards or similar.
