PURPOSE:To improve the hardness and abrasion resistance of a titled casting, to enable the production of a large-sized casting and to make the production inexpensive, by forming a layer of W carbide or the composite carbide thereof in one body on the outside surface. CONSTITUTION:WC powder or the composite carbide thereof is settled and held in a fused flux having a low m.p., a high b.p. and a low viscosity, and is added together with the flux to molten cast iron so that the carbide, etc. are not oxidized. A cylindrical casting of cast iron having resistance to abrasion is produced by using the molten metal added with the carbide, etc. and making use of a centrifugal casting method. Since the WC, etc. have large specific gravity, they concentrate densely on the outside surface after the casting by centrifugal force, thus forming a layer. |
