PURPOSE:To prevent the seizure of molten steel and to prevent the generation of caracking in a coating layer owing to sulfur attack by coating Ni metal and Mo metal superposedly on the inside surface of a casting mold for continuous casting. CONSTITUTION:A coating layer 2 of Ni or an Ni alloy is first formed on the inside surface of a casting mold 1 made of copper or a copper alloy for continuous casting of steel, and a coating layer 3 of Mo or an Mo alloy is further formed thereon. More particularly, the layer 3 is formed thickly in the upper part in the casting mold where the temp. is high and thinly in the lower part. The embrittlement of the coating layer owing to the sulfur attack by a slight amt. of S contained in molten steel and mold powder is prevented by the layer 3 and the seizure of the molten steel on the inside surface of the casting mold is prevented. |
