PURPOSE:To prevent partial overheating of guide rolls and pinch rolls for an ingot in a continuous casting device hence generation of cracking on the surface thereof, by cooling locally the ingot side surface of said rolls. CONSTITUTION:The guide rolls and pinch rolls for a continuous casting ingot to be used for a continuous casting of steel receive much thermal load on the surfaces in contact with the continuous casting ingot on account of a low casting speed and generate cracking in their surfaces. The generation of cracking is prevented by forming passages 5 for cooling water near the side of a roll 2 in contact with a continuous casting ingot 1 and cooling the roll 2 mainly on the side in contact with the ingot 1. A water-feed header 6 and a discharge header 7 are constituted respectiely in the open end parts of the passages 5. Communicating apertures are thus formed axially in the circumferential direction of the cylindrical part of the roll 2, thereby constituting the passages 5. The temp. difference in the surface of the roll 2 as well as the generation of surface cracking are reduced. |
