PURPOSE:To detect the steering angle accurately without subject to vibration, by placing a detector between steering wheels for converting the rotary displacement into the axial displacement. CONSTITUTION:Upon function of a steering wheel, an upper column shaft 13 will rotate to rotate a nut 27 relatively to move axially in proportion to the rotary displacement. A brush 49 will slide over a resistor 41a together with a conductor 41b. As the motion of the brush 49, the resistance between the terminals A43, C46 or B44, D47 will vary in correspondense to the axial displacement of nut 27 or the steering angle of the upper column shaft 13. A rubber bush is placed to prevent axial displacement to be produced between a supporting member 28 and the nut 27 even when the axial displacement is produced due to the vibration from the pavement. |
