PURPOSE:To enable safety operation by conducting the operation of a thrust push-up device just before a generator produces electric power several minutes after the completion of production of electric power, and stopping the push-up device during a waiting period and during acceleration to ensure the oil film thickness of a thrust bearing at the time of producing electric power. CONSTITUTION:A thrust bearing device 2 is provided with a thrust push-up device 6 for reducing frictional torque at the time of starting and stopping and preventing burning of a bearing to lengthen the life of a bearing, thereby to supply pressurized oil to a concave portion 11 of a statical plate 5 and push up a vertical shaft S through a rotary plate 4. In the thus constructed device, by operating the thrust push-up device 6 just before the production of electric power indicated by ON after the completion of production of electric power, an oil film of thickness enough for a slide surface at the time of producing electric power when the thrust bearing device goes to a sudden transient state can be ensured to accomplish the safety operation of a generator. |
