Combining washing of hydrocarbon from waste air - with bio-filtration of washings

Hydrocarbons present in waste air, e.g. from industrial processes, are largely absorbed by washing with water. The washing water, small in vol. compared with the air it has purified, is conveyed by piping to a solid bed biofilter through which the water trickles. The dissolved hydrocarbons are biochemically broken down, while the bed is maintained at the necessary moisture level for operation. ADVANTAGE - Biofilter can be located at any suitable position, possibly a considerable distance from the washing plant.
