A description is given of an aiming device for a trailer coupling, comprising a rod which can be mounted on the coupling ball of the tractor vehicle and the upper end of which can be seen by the driver through the interior rear-view mirror and the rear window, together with a further rod, which is mounted by means of a magnetic clamp on the coupling socket of the trailer to be coupled. The socket of the trailer causes the rod on the coupling ball to fall off as soon as the correct coupling point is reached.
