To prevent the effect of different overheating temperatures of the refrigerant on the control of the expansion valve (6) in an evaporator (1), with multiple injection, built into a refrigeration system, according to the invention a vortex chamber (2) is built into the suction duct and has the sensor (7) of the expansion valve (6) arranged at its outlet. The vortex chamber (2) is advantageously formed as a helical channel, and according to a further development of the invention forms a part of a heat exchanger, the other part of which is formed by a channel through which flows hot gas or else hot liquid originating from the collector (5). The separation of the refrigerant from the oil droplets to which it adheres is facilitated in this manner. <IMAGE>
