PURPOSE:To shorten the length of data transmitted from a host processor and enhance data-processing efficiency, by a method wherein the control of returning of a printing part and control of line shifting in feeding a paper in a serial printer can be conducted simultaneously by the same controlling signal. CONSTITUTION:The host processor 1 outputs printing data (d) together with a format-controlling signal (e), which are set on a data-holding part 2. The data include printing data for one-line portion together with controlling data such as a returning and line-shifting command C. The returning and line-shifting command C is read from the part 2, and when it is transmitted to a control command signal outputting part 4 through a controlling part 3, a decoder 4-1 decodes the command C, and outputs a control signal to a returning part 5 and a line-shifting part 6. Accordingly, the returning part 5 and the line-shifting part 6 can be simultaneously controlled by a single command. |
