PURPOSE:To remove the zinc at the ends of steel pipes for eliminating snow without water spraying without damaging the base material of the steel pipes by disposing a cathode plate in a neutral and acidic electrolyte soln., immersing the ends, as an anode, of the steel pipe into said soln. and supplying DC current between both electrodes. CONSTITUTION:The zinc at the ends of the steel pipes 3 for eliminating snow without water spraying provided with zinc films is required to be removed in order to join the steel pipes. The above-mentioned steel pipes 3 are erected on an insulating base 6 in a bath cell 1 filled therein with an electrolyte 7 of the neutral and acidic electrolyte soln. consisting of zinc chloride and antimony chloride, etc., and the ends of the pipes are immersed and dispersed in said soln. the electrolyte 7 is circulated through pipelines 9, 10 interposed with a chemical pump 4 and a filter device 5. The metallic plate 8 which is the cathode is disposed in the electrolyte 7 and the DC current is supplied between said plate and the immersed ends of the pipes 3 as the anode from a power source 2. The removal of the zinc necessary for joining the ends of the steel pipes 3 is thus executed.
