<p>NEW MATERIAL:Physiologically active substance betaenone B obtained by cultivating a fungus belonging to the genus Phoma betae, capable of producing betaenone B. White powder having [alpha]<20>D=0 deg. specific rotatory power, C21 H36O5 estimated molecular formula, and ultraviolet absorption at 259nm. USE:Having an inhibitory action on radicle growth and inhibitory action on hypocotyl growth, useful as an agricultural chemical and drug. PROCESS:A fungus such as Phoma betae Frank PS-13 (FERM-P 6556), etc., capable of producing betaenone B, is inoculated into a nutritive medium. After the cultivation is over, the culture solution is filtered so that the mold is removed, the filtrate is concentrated under reduced pressure, and separation and purification are carried out by combininng means such as solvent extraction, resin treatment, adsorbent treatment, recrystallization, etc., to give physiologically active substance betaenone B.</p> |
