The use of alkyl-substituted 2,4-dihydroxybenzophenones, optionally in combination with further stabilisers, for stabilising baking (stoving) finishes (coatings, paints, enamels, lacquers), in particular compounds of the formula <IMAGE> in which R is C3-C12-alkyl, and R1 is hydrogen or C1-C8-alkyl.
