Process and devices for the cleaning of lifted root crops, such as beet, potatoes or the like, are to clean the harvested crops intensively immediately after their lifting and free them of any soil adhering to them. This is achieved, here, in that the root crops are subjected to a vibration of high frequency on their path from the ground to the bunker. For this, a cleaning unit working at high frequency is inserted behind the appliance picking up the root crops from the ground or between this and the point of delivery of the crops to a bunker, conveyor or the like.
