PURPOSE:To suppress generation of counter-pressure in a mechanical seal by installing a by-pass pipe connected to a turbine exhaust pipe in a conduit for introducing the working medium collected in the high-pressure gland of a turbine into a low-pressure gland. CONSTITUTION:A portion of the high-pressure side turbine working medium 22 is introduced into the inflow port 12 in the low-pressure side packing part from an exhaust port 11 in the high-pressure side packing part through a high-pressure side extraction pipe 15 and a low-pressure side inflow pipe 6. A by-pass pipe 34 is installed onto the low-pressure inflow pipe 16 and connected to a turbine exhaust pipe 23. A valve 35 installed in the by-pass pipe 34 is opened only when the pressure of the turbine working medium increases over a prescribed value. |
