A system of improving the seating properties of seating furniture, preferably for sufferers of vertebral problems, consists of a seat rest, which complies with anatomical requirements, and a matching foot support which supports the feet. In this case, the seat surface of the seat rest is curved approximately in the manner of a horizontal S. The foot support consists of a cube as a basic body with a wedge fitted on top for the feet to rest on.
