A spot-type disc brake provided, in particular, for motor vehicles consists essentially of a brake calliper (1) which overlaps the edge of a brake disc (12), in which brake shoes that can be pressed against the brake disc (12) from both sides are held and secured by springs (32, 33) and which, perpendicular to the radius of the brake disc, has an opening (23) with edge surfaces that are parallel to the axis (7) of the brake disc and on which the brake shoes are supported against the braking forces. At the level of the opening (23), the brake shoes are provided with projections (25, 26) pointing towards both sides, i.e. in both directions of rotation of the brake disc and, by means of these, are suspended on corresponding guide surfaces (27, 28) in the opening (23) in such a way that they can be displaced parallel to the axis (7) of the brake disc. Seated on the narrow edges of the lining carriers (20, 21), which narrow edges point outwards radially in relation to the brake disc through the opening (23) there is in each case a spring (32, 33), which essentially comprises two opposing pairs of legs, one leg of which in each case presses the respective lining carrier on to the guide surfaces while the two other legs reach on opposite sides into the interior of the brake calliper and are supported there. To fix the springs (32, 33) bends (40) and central indentations (43) are provided, to which there correspond recesses (42) on the narrow edge of the lining carrier (20, 21). <IMAGE>
