For regenerating in the NRZ-I format digital data which have, for example, been played by a digital video-tape recorder (10), the data are integrated by an integrator (16) and differentiated by a differentiator (18). The integrated and differentiated data are in each case limited by a limiter (26 and 20, respectively), in order to obtain signals which reproduce exactly the zero crossings of the NRZ-I data. The differentiated and limited data are passed through a gate circuit (24) which is gated according to the zero crossings of the integrated and limited data. <IMAGE>
