PURPOSE:To obtains a prepolymer, capable of very readily removing a solvent and having improved moldability and heat resistance, by adding an epoxy resin to a prepolymer prepared by reacting bismaleimide with a tolylenediamine- containing diamine in a cellosolve based solvent. CONSTITUTION:A bismaleimide compound expressed by the formula (R is bifunctional group containing at least two carbon atoms) is reacted with a diamine containing at least >=60mol% tolylenediamine in a cellosolve based solvent while heating to give a prepolymer. An epoxy resin is then added to the prepolymer. The molar ratio of the diamine to the bismaleimide compound is 1:0.5-1.5. The weight ratio of the epoxy resin to the reaction product prepolymer is 100:10-200.
