PYSIOLOGICALLY ACTIVE SUBSTANCE SS12538B AND ITS PREPARATION

PURPOSE:To obtain the titled physiologically active substance having improved vasodilating action and antimicrobial action on part of Gram-positive bacteria and molds, by cultivating aerobically a bacterium belonging to the genus Streptomyces, capable of producing the titled physiologically active substance. CONSTITUTION:Streptomyces pactum S12538B (FERM-P 6433) belonging to the genus Streptomyces is inoculated into a medium containing a nutritive source, and cultivated aerobically, to give physiologically active substance SS12538B having the strutural formula shown by the formula, improved vasodilating action and antimicrobial action on part of Gram-positive bacterial and molds. Not only the above-mentioned mold but also its artificial and natural variants can be used as the strain capable of producing the pysiologically active substance SS12538B. Like preparation of common antibiotics, liquid culture, especially submerged culture is suitable as the cultivation method.
